CFBMC Value Chain Management Workshop
The concept of value chain management is based on identifying opportunities to strengthen competitive advantage through purposely developing and maintaining strategic relationships with other businesses involved in supplying an end product to consumers. Whether farmer, processor, retailer, foodservice, or service provider, businesses can benefit from the opportunities that stem from adopting a value chain approach to business.
Embracing value chain management techniques is however not easy and often relies upon developing the ability to communicate constructively in relation to issues and opportunities faced by businesses operating along the entire value chain. To help you identify how you might create and capture value greater value, the workshop will provide you with valuable insights and understanding of issues facing the retail part of the value chain.
What is a value chain?
A value chain is a partnership between farmers, input suppliers, processors, distributors and food service operators or retailers that is undertaken to generate greater profit. It does this either by creating premium products or by aligning strategies to create efficiencies and effectiveness which could not be achieved individually. In short, it is about people working closer and smarter together – to achieve something that they could not if operating as independent businesses.
The Value Chain Management Workshop, presented by the Canadian Farm Business Management Council, is an ideal opportunity to explore how you can begin the process of developing a closely-aligned value chain, or create stronger more creative relationships with current business partners.
